Thermocill is a socially responsible business fit for the 21st century.

First, we are an environmental business, as green can be, and an ambitious one. According to a report published by WWF in April 2020, heating homes accounts for 9.7% of the UK carbon footprint. It is the single biggest national source of carbon emissions, before car fuel, the production of electricity, the construction sector, agriculture and air travel.

Decarbonising the home energy sector needs to be a priority to fight climate change. Although we collectively need to move away from gas as a source of heat for the sake of the planet, it is a process that will probably take years. In the meantime, we need to cut our gas consumption as quickly as possible without compromising on comfort, nor health.

Thermocill has a major role to play in speeding up the home decarbonising process at an affordable cost for homeowners and home providers.

Our device can cut the gas use of a 3 bedroom semi-detached house by 10% while improving the daily life and health of households. It is also made of 100% recycled nylon. So Thermocill is truly zero waste.

Working towards a Net zero carbon goal by 2050 and reducing waste is one of our missions. It is not the only one.

We are just as determined to reduce fuel poverty and homelessness.

At Thermocill, we firmly believe that living in a warm home in the winter is a fundamental human right. Nevertheless, in England alone, 1 in 10 households suffered from fuel poverty in  2018, meaning that their fuel costs are above average while their income are below the poverty line. Being fuel poor can be lethal. According to the NEA, the national fuel poverty charity, ‘12,000 people die on average in the UK each year because of health conditions caused or worsened by living in a cold home, and fuel poverty is a known risk factor for suicide’.

As for the number of people living on the street, it has skyrocketed over the last ten years.

In a bid to tackle both social issues, we have decided to create a Thermocill trust.

A percentage of the profit made from each and every Thermocill sale will be held within the trust fund. The money raised this way will be used to purchase energy efficient modular housing and create low energy homes for homeless households in collaboration with social housing organisations and local councils.
